Teutonic Knight

The original teutonic knights were a group of individuals who had sworn several oaths;

To protect the land of Teutonia and the people who lived there

To uphold the laws of the land

To find and hold in guardianship the land items of Teutonia

They were not affiliated to any noble house or royal line. They supported warlords, kings and councils that ruled Teutonia through the years that they existed, as long as they were the rightful rulers. They helped in the formation and enforcement of the laws that governed the land, not judge jury and executioner more like strong willed arbiters, who used common sense to discern right from wrong.

The knights began to become corrupted, partake in politics, and recruit without swearing the 3 oaths. they fragmented into 3 sects, Knights of the crown, knights of the shield and knights of the sword this fracturing began a slow and steady slip into becoming distracted from the duty they had been created to perform. This slip into chaos amongst other things (politics included) eventually caused their disbandment in 1106.

It is however rumoured that the knights who still believe the oaths that they had sworn still meet in secret still to this day even though the order no long exists, to fight for the people and land they have sworn to protect. If you lucky enough to see someone in Teutonia doing the deeds and acting in a knightly way maybe thats one of them.
